The load of gravel I just got cost $140. My three kennels are 10x20 (total area). I figure one load of gravel will completely fill them at least 5 times. I refill mine every year. The last load of gravel lasted 5 years, but I used it in the flower beds also. I haven't priced any lumber in awhile.
