  Have been out on a layed track with theses dogs several years back. Not real impressed. But they do still use imates to lay track, usually 1 to 1 1/2 hours old. Inmates lay the track, then get somewhere the dogs can't reach them and wait. They wear a full protective suit. This is in Texas. And the dogs I'm talking about are pack hounds, they also use scent pacific blood hounds or crosses for tracking in populated areas. Also used to hunt lost or missing people( non felons).
