I run a pretty big CD named Baus, he is APBT, (85lbs+) and from what I've seen, the wind is the only problem with bigger dogs. If he'll catch, I'd use him. It's just like any other athlete. They need conditioning before you will really know what he is capable of. I didn't think my boy was gona make the cut, but after leaning him down to hunting weight, and running him every weekend he seems to be good to go. So JMO, but I think you should see what he has. Only other thing I can say is if he is a house pet,  understand that he may get hurt bad or worse, and it hurts you. Not that u don't already know that, just felt the need cause I turned mine out, and I think of it every time I let him go. Good luck to ya.
