I was having the same problem.
I found that I was not pushing the charger lead connection all the way down in the groove of the collar receptacle. It felt like it was seating all the way but when I had a closer look in the light I was able to see the problem. Just a little extra force and I haven't had the problem since.
It about drove me crazy until I figured it out.
