Pretty much the only people still breeding cats are the ones looking to make money off papers and double glass eyes..
The ones that were breeding for hunting ablilty gave up and started breeding BMCs...

from your last post i have to assume you are new to running dogs. First, you are going to go through a dog or two to find what you want, secondly that one may not reproduce him/herself and EVERY strain has culls for one reason or another. Find one you like hunt the snot out of it, then try to find a dog that compliments it, and go from there. My BEST dogs were FREE! just my .02
I am not new to raising or running dogs in general ( I owned and trained and ran beagles inAKC triles for 14 years) I am new to hog dog sports though. I do understand the idea of culls in about all crosses, that is why I would be willing to pay alittle to get some stock that I can put some trust in. I also understand like with the beagles there are different styles of these dogs, (ie long range or short and ruff and loose) I also understand how you train them has a huge effect on many of these varrables. Dave, First Off I don't and won't get in a pissing match over this post with others. There is a lady in Denham Springs that has a proven line of Catahoulas. These dogs have won every baypen championship there is to win. She sells dogs to hunters and they make great woods dogs. She sells dogs for blood trailing and they make excellent blood trailing dogs. She ships dogs to Ranches in the U.S. and Canada and they excel at being cow dogs. These dogs have a lot of Sandhill in their bloodline which is one of the oldest Cat bloodlines in existence today. She started with a few Sandhill dogs as part of her foundation and through the years has line bred and now has her own
line of dogs. These dogs are very versatile. Litter after litter these dogs have proven themselves at what ever it is their job has turned out to be. Her name is Terri Monaghan. She owns Monaghan Catahoulas. Her number is 225-892-8948. I had a plan similar to yours. I did not want to go through a bunch of dogs to finally get a good one. I have my own line started now off of her dogs and couldn't be happier with their progress. The pups are eight months old and we are fixing to start hunting them in Feb. Pups I sold from my first litter are already hunting and finding their own hogs. Are their better Cats out there? I'm sure they are. I'm just giving you one place to find what your looking for.

IVE HAD CATAHOULAS FOR AROUND 15 YEARS, EVER BREED HAS TRASH BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ABUNDANCE OF TRASH IN THE CATAHOULA WORLD. PROBLEM IS THEY ARE PRETTY AN THAT PRETTY COAT AN EYES KEPT ALOT OF DOGS ALIVE ON LOOKS ALONE!
Yes I agree with the color part of your statment, some are so fancy looking that you would want to keep them on that alone, hope I don't do that if I get into them.
