There's no doubt that some breeds can smell better than others.  I do feel that most cur dogs, whether they take a hot track or super cold track, can smell all the same thing.  It boils down to what they are willing to try, what their instincts are telling them and that comes down to what they are hardwired to do.  Just my thought though.
