An idea to facilitate the problem stated.  Is start with the best you can get your hands on and make the improvements yourself to bring them up to what ever standard you desire.

It can definitely be done with breeding, training, and a ton of hunting.

Most of the folks I know that have the closed kennels are not looking for so called " kissing their dogs behinds"  they could truthfully care less if anybody likes or dislike their dogs. They breed for working and are not in the sport for financial gain.
As you stated you have to put in your time with some of these guys to attempt to get a pup. Most not even then...but it's their right to make that call due to it being their hard work and time spent going into the dogs that they started with and built up.

If everyone had great dogs then nobody would have anything special.

Nobody likes to hear "just do it yourself" or "Cull Hard"   and those are the two main tools to get what you want.

This is completely my opinion and ain't worth the screen space to type it but plenty of great dog men out there that dont deserve that kind of bitterness.

As far as the sport continuing. "THEY COME AND THEY GO"   If you gotta beg somebody to stay, they are probably in it for the wrong reasons.

I hope you find what you looking for sir along with everyone else that wants it bad enough to overlook the gotta have it now syndrome or I can buy a perfect dog mind set.

Good luck.   Smiley
