Well put in that context yes maybe. I already said I'm on the yellow team, but 1 of my hardest hunting dogs is a halvsy. Moreover, I honestly don't mean to be rude or start nothing but I personally do not care for catahoulas as a breed. Pretty has done irreparable damage. There are however a handful of men whose cats I have hunted with who I think pretty highly of. I own a half cat half plott down the line from one of these men and there are two litters by two other men who I have been offered pups from that I had to with a heavy heart pass on for reasons unrelated to performance.

One dog I can think of in particular is in my opinion real good! He is almost everything
You'd want in a hog dog no doubt and the AVERAGE hog hunter may never in their life see a dog like him, BUT I would not consider crossing him to my best Gyp. They are both pretty tightly bred and all the attributes compliment each other AND their F1 cross may be phenomenal BUT where do you go from there?? You'd be chasing genetic phantoms for several wasted years only to probably have to end up culling large percentages and having to start over and then realizing that you've burnt the bridges that got you to the original prototypes.

Purebred hard culled linebred dogs already have a hard enough time reproducing star quality dogs and gyps if you are honest about what you produce (or so I've been told)  Wink so why pray tell would you want to purposely pee in the pool??
