Agreed. The problem is structural. The weakness of any democracy is when the voters realize that they can use their votes for their economic advantage. This includes giving funds to the politicians to acquire the votes. At that point, what might be good for the entire country is less important than what is good for the individual voter. Be that welfare, tax cuts, tax credits, military contracts, NASA, sports stadiums, etc. etc.
I agree...here in lies the problem...those that are active voters and those that have the money to aquire or sway the vote...most of the time it is good for a few and not for the betterment of our country as a whole...I am one who believes in what is best for the country...and usually it is a healthy balance for all...
