It's not being a badass, it's just having standards and making sure they're met.  Dogs are tools in a sense, and to do a good job, you should have the best there is.

I agree... I want them to be able to find their own, and if another dogs strikes they should honor it unless they are on their own track..

IMO, a strike dog shouldnt need much help... It should be able to find, bay, stop, or stick with a hog on its own...
