Yes sir it is the chrome vandium when you get the knife stick the blades in a potato or an oranger and it will turn the blade black it takes the shine off and keeps it from rusting

Thank you!! I love the chrome vanadium blade, I have even sharpened it so fine that I shaved my face once just to see if I could! The only thing I hate is the fact that they rust immediately out of the box! I'll try the orange trick now!
