I've got a summit something now but instead of foot straps it has those cursed plastic hooks. I wont get one with those again because i cant keep them tight and they loosen up all the time. I guess it dont matter if you got it tied together on both sides near the tree.I tell you they do work well and are very safe just dont bend the rules. I am a roofer and have really good balance and have wanted to get higher and had a limb in the way i couldn't cut and have unhooked both top and bottom while in the air. Sounds crazy but you will be tempted. Don't do it! Then all will be well. accidents only happen if someone does something stupid.
