When they are in the water it is a hustle, we have had two dogs gator caught - one was swimming a ditch but he fought back and lived but the other wad snatched off the bank at a bay and we found him a few days later.
Saturday when we caught the listed hog two gators showed up (or we noticed them) once we got the hog up the bank...they come to a barking dog and splashing water quick..it is always in the back of everyone's head lol and it is definitely something you never get used to!
