You guys are looking at this all wrong. There were very few barrs (2 at most) brought in last year at the contest.
If that's the case why change the rule? I think your missing the point. Guys that have barrs on their places can't just tell their dogs not to catch the barrs that weekend. If they do happen to get on a Barr that takes them across the country and cost them 6 hours to catch him. Then they don't get anything out of it except being screwed for the weekend. Let's see what happens when a few of those guys who are crying about barrs being allowed, end up having that situation happen and waste a half a day and get all their dogs wrecked to catch a big nasty barr, and it all be for a side pot... awesome. I bet their feelings on the matter might change then. If someone wants to groom the competition to make the rules give them a better chance, are they really the best. Heck why not just hand out hog dogger of the year buckles to everyone who enters so no one's feelings get hurt when they get beat by those who are truly the best. Not just the best at winning under certain circumstances.
With all that said I'm merely a outsider looking in and have no ties here, but I've kept up with all these threads and this is what I've gathered.
