In Texas it is against the law to shoot a dog with a orange REFLCTIVE collar or you can go to jail!!! My very close friend is in animal control and has actually witnessed a person going to jail for it...orders not matter if it's on your property it's illegal

I asked a local police officer about shooting a dog on your property to protect your livestock, etc.
He said just shooting a dog for being on your property is a no no but shooting a dog to protect your property, livestock, chickens, cats, dogs, whatever is legal.

Sounds like it would be hard to prove otherwise if a man SAID the dog was after something and there were no eye witnesses. If it ever happens just gotta hope they were a dumbass and admitted to doing it out of malice.

I was wondering about this last night and most of today until I found a dog I lost last night. Was sitting on the fence row and called a boy that lived close by to see if he had heard anything that way. He said he had heard a hog squealing earlier and a gun shot shortly after. I found that dog today luckily. Now if someone had shot him that said he was chewing cows or something. If I have multiple ppl that have hunted behind my dogs testify that the dog was broke would it make a difference.
