Iv typically carry a .38 with hollow points. My wife bought me the lever action Henry .45 octagon barrel for Christmas, Ill carry a lever action from time to time, but the octagon is heavy. I also have a .22 mag octagon barrel pump Henry that's a champ as well, but the other complaint I guess I could dig up for the Henrys is that the sights are trash... You would think spending that much on a American made gun, you wouldnt have to fight so hard to shoot anything further than 30ft. But on the other hand, ill tie 90% of the pigs, and always carry a .38 or my .22 mag pistol just incase things get a little hairy. A dog or a pig, pig will go first. Iv killed good hogs with a .22 mag, lay um down quick with 1 shot. No since in takin a cannon to a knife fight.... A decent buddy of mine shot his rcd in the neck with a .30-30 rickachet in the head of a boar hog, dog made it, but a hardcore collar won't stop a .3030 hard point. Iv allways kept the powder to a minimum and shot hollow point shell in whatever caliber you can find comfortable. Pistol makes it easier to get in tight to keep the dogs safe...
