I like this post just the other day we were riding threw the marsh on the ATV jumped a nice size boar I stoped and put 3 dogs to him I jumped up on the dog box on the bike and watched as the hog was running he would stop every now and again turn around and his ears would perk up like he was listening for the dogs when he would here them he get moving again. Now just for the record I really don't care about silent dogs or open dogs I've caught more hogs w open dogs than I ever have w silent ones and I've owned and own both and some dam good ones from both silent and open .but it was really cool to watch that hog stop and listen to them dogs

x2...and when the dogs are busting thru palmettos they can be heard a long ways off...

good hog dogs will catch lots of hogs in open woods...same dogs not so many in the thick briars because they can not catch up to the hog...add hot weather and dogs will over heat before they can bay up lots of the time...and summetime the weeds are tall and thick and that makes the hunt swing even more to the hogs favor...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
A hunting dog is born not made...
