I clearly hear the Q & A on pen/wood dogs. It's lookin like whoever owns the dog has a choice WHERE to invest "quality" time(pen or woods)....that's a good thing. Since this male pup is(in my hopes) gonna b striking hogs, here within 6 months, on his own, high high hopes, I would think that's a success. I don't really want to have a help dog, for no specific reason either. I just think if I can maintain 2 strike dogs and a smart CD, that's all I really need. Gettin there is a lot harder than it sounds. I'm gonna say when Machito is 1 1/2, if he turns out to be findin hogs, I will get into another pup and start over.

For the record, my whole reason of askin the pen dog ? Was to see advantages/disadvantages of training a pup once a week for 10 min or less, up to a year old. I have figured it will turn out a good pen bay dog, not a good woods strike dog(which is really what my goal is). Y'all all do a great job at explainin your view, and honestly I had no idea this subject could get so deep- so thanks for the feedback!!  Wink
