You may already be aware of this, but if you lose a catch dog, see if you can get your hands on a cur dog, tie them to a tree then walk away. More than likely the cur dog will begin barking, and the catch dog will come to them.  At least that has worked the couple of times we have had a catch dog lost without a collar on. Mist times we run a collar on them, but there have been a few times we were short a collar and the catch dog went without one. I just use a long collar and put it over the cut collar. Not sure how to make your DC20 work on one though.
