I mentioned in the previous story Bud raised pure Russian hogs. In December 06 Bud called me and ask me to come up and help him get a big wild boar out of his puppy training pen. I didn't own a catch dog and even if I would have I couldn't have caught this hog by myself even in 06 he was to old to help catch a big hog. I loaded up and went to his house and we decided to put about 5 or 6 redbones and a blue heeler in the pen. None of our dogs would get close enough to that big boar to put enough pressure to get him to get out of the pen. I told him I have a dog that would chew that hogs balls off so I went to my truck and got my 2 yr old dog BJ and turned him in and of course first thing he tried to do was catch that big boar. That hog was so bad I was on a Honda foreman and that hog charged the 4 wheeler with me on and picked the front up when he hit it. I didn't know whether to stay on the wheeler or jump off and run well that boar caught BJ between him and the fence and whooped his but. The dog didn't even have a scratch but he was done for the day. This boar was as full blooded as the hogs in Bud's brood pen. Y'all have to understand that the hog was probably raised in bud's brood pen's but just happened to get out when it was young and decided to come home. There are more Russian blood in the hogs around greenbrier arkansas than anywhere else in Arkansas. Tomorrow in honor of Bud I am taking a pup out of the last litter he raised 1/2 pit 1/2 redbone and try to catch some hogs on a farm about 5 miles from his house.. I have no doubt he will be watching over me every time I go hog hunting!!
