I think it has to do with alot of verbal training with the dog. Only dog I can call off is my main CD it's like he speaks English. I have actually called him off a pig he was chasing because it was a small one that ran out past us after I cut him loose. I hollerd at him and he came back (looking pissed off that I didn't let him go after it) but there was a bigger hog in the thicket that was bayed. On the other hand I have a redtick that don't listen for crap if he's on a track, I have to cut him off if he's hunting hard. But I don't have to worry about him rolling out on hogs cuz he will be caught on the pig like a bulldog.
Just keep practicing verbal commands over and over and try what Charles said.
