The best way to teach a dog to call off is in a pen on hogs with a bull whip or when their pups start them baying on cattle and call them off with a bull whip. Just holler come here or get out real loud a couple times and when they don't call off you need to crack the whip right above their head. If they don't quit baying then swat them on the butt with the whip and then crack it above their head again. I'm not saying to pop them with the whip. Just slap them with it on the butt. It should'nt take long and most will call off. Another thing that works good is to holler real loud " WOOOO ", several times before you feed them and after a while they will associate that sound with food and most dogs will learn to come to you so they can go home and eat. Either way you have to associate calling off with a loud sound that they can hear from a long distance away.

I don't believe she is making the hogs into runners. She is doing what she is supposed to do and that is show some bottom and stick with a runner. Be careful what you ask for though. Whenever you start calling off a dog that will roll off a caught hog then they will usually become shorter ranged or start hanging around and waiting for you to make the first move. I like to have cow dogs that I can call off in case they get on the wrong cows but I really don't care if my hog dogs will call off or not. I don't want to do anything that will sacrafice hunt or range. I have seen dogs that were so hard headed and gamey that it did'nt matter what you did they were'nt going to quit until they were ready. Alot of people will disagree with me but I like that trait in a hog dog. I want a dog that wants to hunt.
