I tack on a white paper towel rolled up or a white rag to the back of the mount...I always make sure the wind is moving towards the dog...I want to be sure the dog smells deer and then when the deer brushes against the do it gets zapped...about 3 or 4 quick good zaps and the dog will be trying to claw it way out...come back a week later and do it again...

the white flag represents the white tail of the deer when running...been doing this trick for a good while and it works for me...it sure is nice to not have to go out and find a deer to zap the dog...
