mike-im Sure you get static interference from lots of things, the power lines , alarms on oil pump ,  cell phones have given problems too xm radios that's the same pulses that gives u a interference! i have used the quick track for over a year ! I stop using it for that reason because i have lost good dogs an jagds at that! ya i see yall stand point on insurance to have a back up! but i do hunt south Texas brush an find garmin works just fine!

Need to come hunt our country, not so user friendly. Alot more pines here then you have I d say
bud i do hunt pines too in winnfeild, la...

im not knocking your dogs but all i can say is they must not get out very far cause i hunt in winn, bienville, and natchitoches parishes all the time and my garmin  consistently fails when the dogs get to a little over 1000 yards, and yes i have the long range antennas on my collars and on the handheld and the only way i can track past 1000 yards is if both me and the dogs are in a open cutover. it makes me happy happy happy when a hunting buddy has a sorry ole telemetry collar that i can put on my dogs.
