the vet would go broke and out of business if everyone used them like I do...I take care of most things related to dogs and prevention is always best...Loss of blood most always I take care of myself...main thing is keep your dog out of shock and warm them up if they do...I keep the dog at my side on the way home and that dog will spend the night in the house and I will be where he can see me and I can pat him now and then...sometimes it is that little extra that gives them the will to fight and pull through...JMO
like most have already said...we do the other things to make the dog well but stopping the bleeding any way you can is the first thing that needs to happen...
I agree Mr. Reuben, a bit off topic but I believe the same is true in regards to sickened puppies, i have seen it first hand and honestly believe that had I not stayed in almost constant contact with a couple different pups while sick that they would not be around today. It truely does make a difference....dogs are considered mans best friend for a reason, once trust is earned a good one will strive to perform for and seek approval from its master.......some say they prefer a dog that hunts for itself, I personally prefer one that hunts for approval from his master and a scratch behind its ear.
I agree with you too...I have saved some sick pups and I do believe that being their for them until they get over the hump is sometimes the difference in whether they make it or not...grown dogs the same...
on your other comment I also agree...
I do like a little independence but I like a dog that hunts with me and close enough to the pack so they can pack up when one strikes...and if I am moving I want my 4 or 5 dogs to be looping 200-400 yards in all directions...as long as I see one or 2 lope by they haven't got on a hog...don't see a dog for a little while it is time to pull that ole tracker out cause they are running a track, running a hog, or already have one bayed...dogs that scatter in different directions and are hunting for themselves I don't care as much for...just my preference...
