    it's more about set-up location than what you use to call with  .

This is the absolute truth here. I used to do quite a bit of predator hunting, and placed way more importance on the stand set up than the sounds itself.  You canbe singin a dog the sweetest symphony ever, but if it sees you or winds you, you'll never get a shot off. I have a foxpro fx3. And I think any foxpro call is worth the money. I used a lot of hand calls as well, but usually only to bring them in closer after the foxpro got them interested. Another inexpensive  e-caller I have never hunted with, but been very impressed by the sounds, is the Flextone Echo. For less than 200 it has a wide range of sounds and sounds pretty good as well.
