Mostly just reteiving dove, I dont have enough quail here to hunt.  I dont duck hunt, but have always wanted to start, but I hear Pointers are not the best retreiving in water....  Pretty much I dont wanna get off my lazy ass to pick dove up, and the fact I love watching dogs work, so its a win win haha.

while i'm sure a pointer would do the job for you just fine, I personally would look for either a lab, chesapeake or german shorthair if dove hunting is your main concern.
