well leg wire snares will make a hog break his leg trying to get off , making a head snare for trails work just fine the 1/8 inch our bigger will help from hurting there's self..  I Think cam lock snares are the best out there because they are a no kill snare an the cam lock part are reusable after catching a big hog just replace the wire .  now catching them when they are bigger then 200lb is easy said then done but invest in a snare pole an add 10foot of rope on the snare pole line an put the snare pole  behind his teeth an pull away from your anchor snare so u can get behind him then u can hog tie him loose where he can stand an barley walk this will let u be able to walk him with the snare pole on him instead of dragging him saves your back trust me , set all trail with several snare on the same trail so u can catch more then one .  go to  snareshop, com they have 12 cam lock snares that are 8' by 1/8 ''wire for 23 dollars an 5 dozen fo 100 dollars they are the best company around an make every snare very good .. i was just buying the cam lock but it's cheaper buying them made..  these snare don't kill so no animal or dog will be hurt just leave room from other trees..  if there's other ? ask i check snares daily so there tricks an moon fazes that keep hogs traveling different trails during the week an game cams work really good to time the hogs an there's ways to direct them to a trail u want them to go down but thats learned after time..  oh deer stops are recommended to have on an each snare suppose to have a name tag on the anchored side  well hope u catch some good ones...

Do you think a drag would keep them from breaking their leg?
