over here in bama i have noticed on some of the open places i been getting to hunt lately baying a hog isnt a problem even if it breaks its not goin to far but i dont hunt them places alot, the places i usually hunt are so thick usually the only time they bay is when they first run up on a hog about 5 barks and then its a race, its not the dogs or the hogs fault its thick this time of summer and briars that pull meat out when they go by, so a dog has a tuff time running and having to trail and getting his eyelids stretched out through these thickets that the dogs just cant catch up to get a hog to stop and bay, where the hog just puts his head down and trots around 3-4-5-6 hours and you get 5 barks every now and then when they run up on it, all the dogs cant stick togethor that long and wont run up on him all at one time. but if a dog runs a hog for 5 hours im just as happy as i caught 10 it shows just as good of dog work to me
