like any other breed...some good ones and some sorry ones out there...find a breeder that breeds the larger type...these usually have larger ear and longer legs...get one that comes from coon hound stock or better yet hog dog stock...these dogs are hard to beat when it comes to bottom and finding a hog...there are quite a few that are very open and others that are silent...most have a just right nose...not to hot and not too cold...there is a dog named briar mt dude that is nice and he has pups all over...get you one of his pups if you can..."Hillbilly" on this site might can hook you up with one or 2 pups from this dog...
