I have heard the same thing about domestic hogs reverting back to their wild kinfolks in a short period of time...I think it is a bunch of boloney but that is my opinion...I think it has more to do with disease and predators as to why they adapt and the new look comes out...pure bred hogs will die off rather quickly because of lack of diversity of the gene pool and the slow big butt ones will get caught...the higher the death rate the faster they evolve

right now it is the hog doggers that are making these hogs evolve pretty quick...the slow ones are getting caught...the ones that want to stop and fight are getting caught...the ones that run fast and are smart get away to breed another day...that right there changes the way hogs look and act rather quickly...they are constantly evolving because of it...
