I would say it depends on how much you hunt. Be real honest with yourself about how often you really go hunting too.
A good Jagd can't lay up and do nothing. They can and will go crazy in a pen. A bored Jagd will hunt anything and everything that moves, including other dogs, ants, lizards, flies, leaves, lint, you name it. If you aren't keeping a Jagd busy you will have problems. Jagds can be trouble even when hunted often. You won't find a dog with more prey drive, and desire to hunt. Yes, Jagds can be trashy, and prone to fight, but they are lots of fun too.
Be sure you have a well bred Jagd no more than a couple generations from European dogs. I believe the European bred Jagds are nearly perfect for hunting hogs in thick cover.
I hunted mine one or two out and a pit to catch. The pit didn't get as much work as you might think. Two Jagds can catch and hold some surprisingly big hogs together.
The sad fact is the best ones don't live too long. I had up to 5 at one time, but they are all gone now.
