Out of the different deer rifles I have shot, 308, 270, 7mm-08, & the 7 mag, my favorite hands down is the 270.
I have a buddy who shoots a 22-250 & I have seen him loose many deer altho I would say it is his shooting rather then the caliber.
For years I have used a marlin 30-30 for bear hunting & just this year upgraded to a Rossi 45-70. I have also seen hunters have to shoot a bear several times with a 45-70. Like said above, shot placement is everything.
The gun you feel most comfortable with, is the one you should go with.
Go figure we don't get a dime off gun or ammo from gander. But we can go on a special website that allows us to take tests and get a bunch of discounts. I can get garmins for dirt cheap. But they limit you to one a year
