When I first started hog hunting I hunted with michelle mears in south florida.  Every dog she owned would find its own hog and catch it by itself.  She believed that every hog on her lease was a runner and would not bay up at all.  She had dogo/cat crosses, pit/cat crosses, straight pit, blackmouth curs, all straight find and catch.  We caught no less than 3 hogs a day when I went with her.  A lot of the hogs got chewed up and a lot of the dogs got cut but we were catching hogs.  A friend of mine named wayne has some of her bloodline and hunts the same way.  He always says we're not baying hogs we're catching hogs.    I've had several that were find and catch, a lab/pit and a straight pit, both had good noses and would shut a hog down.  I like the bay and being able to walk in and watch the bay.  I also like not having my dogs get cut.  If I was competition hunting or hunting for a living or had to eat what I caught I would only have dogs that would find their own hog and catch it.  If their is no bay then the dogs have a lot less chance to break or get away.  The australians have known this for a long time, just go on boardogs.com
