Like I said, to each their own, BUT......
I will never understand why people choke (which CAN cause damage over time to your dog, both physically and mentally), or hit their CD's over the head to break them off a hog, when they are doing something you WANT them to do, that they are SUPPOSED to do. If one knows (NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE) how to properly manipulate a break stick, you can indeed break a bulldog off effectively. I have broken off some VERY powerful hard biters, with bi lateral carpal tunnel in my hands/wrists, with a break stick. No choking or punching needed. All the time it takes to choke a dog to where he's about to sleep to let go, he could have been broken off with a break stick multiple times over.
I do not tell people what to do or what not to do with their dogs, but this is just how I feel/handle mine.
