As to the question of why work so hard to find a silent plott, here is what I'll say. I hunt mostly silent bmc dogs and a few mixed curs. The plotts are a good bit rangier than my curs, and also have a colder nose. That's why I look for some silent or mostly silent hounds. It's rare but when you find em they'll cover out further while your curs hunt closer in. For us it works well.
