Circle C......It might not be a problem with your dogs, just the conditions.  I will argue to the end that heat and humidity take the same tole on all dogs that have the same physiological heat tolerance (ei. deep chest and thin fur, ect.) and same level of conditioning.  I dont know what kind of dogs you have or what kind of condition they are in (like physical ability wise).  But I know my dogs right now are not very well physically conditioned with only hunting about every other week lately and not even much time to excercise them at the house cause I been buisy with the FD.  Nothing wrong with it its just life.  With that in mind, I'm willing to say my dogs perform 50% better (maybe more) when they are hard and in top shape from being hunted twice a week compared to just average shape hunted once every couple weeks.  One thing you can do is hunt when the conditions are best for the dogs like low temps and moderate humidity (hard to find this time of year) but you might try to hunt those bad hogs hard in the winter when conditions are best and vegetation not so thick.  Then give it a rest in the summer and hunt the places with easy hogs.  Your dogs might not get better but the conditions will and that might be what it takes to catch a few and thin out those runner on that place.

Also......I'd say you wont find many Florida Curs in Texas becuase Florida curs are curs from florida, and why would someone want a florida Cur if they live in Texas?  Are Florida Curs that much better than those in Texas?  I doubt it.  Probly not any difference at all in quality there are good and bad dogs and super dogs in both states.  Just the super dogs are "not for sale", and its hard to find a dog thats "not for sale" that is for sale.  lol

What we need is a way to measure and standardise speed in hog dogs.  That way we will know what we mean when we talk about fast dogs or dogs that are not fast.  Could be they have slow dogs in florida too.   I guess the fast dogs are ones that catch hogs but what happens when a slow dog catches a fast hog? Grin
