I usually start with a safety meeting especially with new hunters.  They are told not to do anything until we know the beast has been caught.  They are also informed that no guns are allowed unless they are willing to pay 5k for shooting a dog.  This pre-meeting usually gets the message across.   Communication is big with me especially when dealing with rookies.
