Got a questino for the guys that don't bring a gun. Are you saying you have a gun in the truck or you just don't bring one period? Im not judging in any way, what you do is your decision, same goes for me, I just can't see going to the woods with the intent of catching an animal that can literally beat a dog to a pulp and beat grown man down ( I know its not a common occurrance but still...) without a gun of some sort at least at the truck. Im not even gonna get started on some of the wierdo's i've run into while hunting that weren't supposed to be on the property I was on. Like I said not trying to start anything but for me, my gun is like having a 4x4 truck........I may not need it and I may not ever use it but its there, just in case......I may be too paranoid lol but with exception to work (chemical plant) I carry a gun almost as much as I carry my wallet/phone...... I like the re-assurance that if it hits the fan I have something to help my crippled ass

It wasn't smart but I use to go all the time without a gun or a knife, just tie rope. Just me and my younger brother caught a big boar one night in a deep ditch that was almost waist deep and the bank was straight up on both sides. As soon as I got in to grab the hog I was stuck in mud and couldn't do anything but hold on and pray. Its a long story so I'll spare the details, but it was about as nervous as I had ever been, and I learned right quick that I had better start carrying a knife whether I planned on tying everything or not. I sure was wishing I had one that night. I ended up losing both of my boots, my light died, and had to turn the hog loose to get out. It was a hairy situation. That hog taught me a lesson that night and since then I've always kept a pocket knife on me, extra batteries, and a pistol in the truck.
Look at it this way. "You would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it."
