U can think about it like this. When a man is looking for a cd his first priority is that it catch. Second part is usually catch ear. Third is no HA. Fourth is no DA. Then comes go to the bay and quite in the box. After point 1 there is always someone that would give the dog a chance if the price is right.
Now look at a bay dog. First is find its own hog. No trash. Loose or rough (preference) go to bay, bottom, range . All of that is for a well started dog a man wants to give 5 to 700 for. Any less than all of these points and a dog is a cull.
While a CD is an important part of the full picture it can be done without him. The likely hood of finding this dog for a relatively low amount of money is probable. While finding a bay dog as described for the same money is possible but not probable.
I will agree that there are some people that lose dogs on a regular basis that I believe do not do enough to protect them because they feel they are a dime a dozen. These same people have a tendency to lose bay dogs as well.
I personally can't afford a bay dog that cost $1,000.00 much less a bulldog. My max I could spend for a good dog is $500. I know that will probly never buy me a good dog but it is what it is. A bull dog max for me would be about $250 because regardless of how much gear I put on him to protect him he is going into the eye of the storm. One good lick could end it in the blink of an eye. Once I got a good dog be it a CD or Bay/strike dog I would never think about selling them for 2 or even 3x the price I paid. It would take holy smokes money and even then I would have to think about it.
