Using E-collars is tricky. You can either correct the issue, make it worse, or mess the dog up depending how you use it.
X2. I've never had luck with an e-collar. They think the other dog is hurting them and fight harder in my experience. For the most part my dogs know I'm the boss and if they seem to want to fight I just give em a vocal correction and that stops em. If not the belt will. But some dogs are harder headed than others and as mentioned those damn bitch dogs know how to hold a grudge
