A turn is when the dog turns away from the fight. That is the dog that must scratch first once they get out of hold and handled. Scratch means crossing the pit and resuming the fight. I want to assure you I have had nothing to do with this sport for many years and don't intend on breaking any of these laws. Just sayin in case some leo thinks otherwise.
