I've been in that position. I was a euthanasia tech for the county I lived in back in FL.
Hundreds of healthy, both young and old, both purebred and mixed dogs died in that one facility, in my arms. Very sad. The problem is....some of these folks just want everyone to stop breeding all together...and preach that breeding is evil practically. What they aren't able to do is recognize the difference in breeding for a puropse, and the straight up peddlers that breed SOLEY to make money, or, those who choose to keep intact dogs and NOT confine them properly. They just want to end all breeding practices. I could go on for days on this.
Shotgun: RIGHT ON! I have seen some pretty dang responsible pet owners turned down by rescues!! MANY times! It's crazy.

and another thing...I won't drop by to adopt a dog because I want my catch dog to be intact so I will not waste my time dropping by...logic does not work when talking to those folks...
