I think it has a lot to do with number of hogs in an area. I don't have a lot of hogs. Mine do good as long as there is plenty of sign. If they get bored u better get ready. I have deer that will bed up and feed within feet of my dogs. I have buck rubs within 10 steps of the end of leads. My dogs are trashy without a doubt. They will leave a deer race if they cross a hog. I have seen them do it multiple times. I have caught the devil trying to trash break them. In these pine thickets u can't see what they are running lots of times and u have to catch them crossing a road to be sure. I do wish I had a place like curcross said that I knew had only deer and no hogs. Then I could light them up when they struck. I am currently trying to find deer crossing roads then turn out and light them up when they try to leave on it. Work in progress I guess until I get it done. I think if a person has a couple dogs that are completely trash broke and can send pups with them it goes a long ways to starting them right.
