Good looking dogs, and like that your young dog is turning the switch on!! Always a exciting time when you breed your own!
As far as big hogs working the dogs over, it's part of the game. They got big from being smart, so stopping in a thick spot works for him! Your dogs sound like they have what it takes, my suggestion is run fewer dogs on the ground at one time. My dogs are smarter hunting by themselves then in a group. More then one dog and they all grab a hold! It's a good thing, but to many and your running out of safe places to grab! By themselves they tend to catch what they can handle. Not all of them, some are just going to catch everything! Hope the dogs heal up fast for you.
