i had something similar on 2 different occasions, its called bell's palsy for humans, not sure for animals. either way, i got it immediately following the onset of a bad cold, not pneumonia, but wasn't the sniffles either. as bryant said, its a bacteria infection and can be treated with antibiotics. and as the groundskeeper said, find another vet for a sec opinion, and get the dog started on some anti biotic asap. the longer you wait, the worse the paralysis will get and may not go away.
