Wayout...that old red catch dog you posted...I had one that looked just like him...he was one heck of a catch dog as well and from a long line of game dogs...I raised him from 8 weeks old so had a decent handle on him except I couldn't turn him and my lead strike dog loose together in the yard...
he was straight catch hogs only and could walk through cows without issue...until I went with an acquaintance on a hog hunt...he was trying out a new pack of dogs so I only brought along 2 strike dogs and my catch dog REDDOG...I turned my dogs loose as well as Reddog to empty out before put him back on the wheeler...We turned loose next to a herd of cows and I when I herd his dogs bay up solid...my first thought was those are some good dogs if they out struck my dogs that quickly...
I shined my light and those dogs were giving this cow heck and she was standing over her calf trying to protect it...I then tried to call Redman but it was too late... he was wide open to the bay...I hop on my wheeler and I can see him summersault through the air and he is right back at her and she heads out at a dead run...he runs her down and latches on to an ear before I could get between them...the extra weight on the ear makes her veer off to the left in to a slew...
she is swinging him like a windshield wiper and everytime I try to get in and pull him off the cow charges me...my buddy shows up and says he is going to the truck and get a gun to shoot my dog...I said to bring a rope and I will rope him...on his way to the truck he has to go get on the dogs because they were chewing on that calf...
by time he got back the cow was worn down and I was able to pull Reddog off...I don't know how he came out ok because she was stomping on him with her front hooves...he did lose his top canines and he was never broke off of cows after that...shock collar didn't work...I gave him away after all that...I couldn't trust him around cattle...I have been out with other folks pitbulls and have seen some pretty awesome dogs take down some big cows...I have seen some things that I will not write about...but I will say I have the highest respect for the pitbulls abilities, courage and reckless abandon in getting the job done...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
