Reuben I have a real similar story.I live in Florida and hunt the st.Johns rivers a lot and a lot of the places are huge cattle leases with some of the toughest cows on earth. My dogs are cow broke and catch hogs amongst them all the time but I brought a buddy of mine who is a part timer with a pack of #2 eaters. He really wanted to bring a dog and he swore he was cow broke. So we hit the bank and turned out I brought 2 cur dogs and 2 rcd pits he had his dog.soon as we dump my dogs strike and kill a small sow his dog was late to the show after that we walked for about 2 hours and no more action mine were beating the bush his stomping heals. Then I notice I'm not tripping over his dog and take notice on the Garmin he's 250and strokin I tell my Buddy look at this and when he hits 500 he starts baying I couldn't believe it.My bulldogs rocket to him and I hear a cow start bellowing. We take off running crossed a big pasture and they were in an island of thick woods when we're approaching the chaos my head lamp lights up more eyes than I ever seen in them woods and they're all running his dog is steadily chopping.Cows are pouring out on us I find and catch my curs Henry and Buck who were standing there confused then my bulldog Tucker who was doing the same all this is at full speed dodging stampeding cattle I finally find coco my other bulldog and he's got a full grown heifer down in a ditch and the herds taking shots at him I managed to get in and break him my Buddy still is chasing his coyote and the heard starts gathering and they're pissed. He finally gets his dog and we start trying to back out across the pasture but as soon as we hit the open the herd starts circling and taking shots at the leashed dogs we had to find a better way out so we retreat to the wooded island walking backwards and trying to not let them completely circle us.luckily I remember an old fence that splits the island and get across to safety.Let me tell you I grew up on a farm with cattle but I was truly concerned on getting trampled the heard had to be 200 strong. As for Coco he was sore but no major injury he hasn't looked at a cow since he got a stern talking to as soon as we crossed that fence.
