I don't want to be a smart A$$ but it would be pretty remarkable to be able to diagnose hip dysplasia without being checked by a vet. Also it is highly rare in a working bred dog. It gets weeded out in a dog that hunts hard. It would be more likely that there is an injury. You can't see ligaments and muscles. I also ask, did you see him hunt before you bought him?
