My personal opinion is I don't think dillers smell anything like like a hog, not that I have ever smelled them. Reason being is coon dogs run them all the time & I am sure they don't smell anything like a coon. I have even seen my Lab run a armadillo & I know they don't smell like a duck. lol Reason so many dogs run them is they are fairly slow, they make that weird noise when running & dogs usually put them in a hole pretty quick. Best excuse a hog hunter can give, they must smell like a hog. lol
I think your probably right. And being so low to the ground and there belly is covered in hair , I bet they leave a strong scent for a dog to trail.
